DonoLink US FAQ: tips, fees, payouts and taxes

Which payment methods can a viewer use?

Cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay work from day one. Amazon Pay appears once Stripe has activated it for your account. Checkout shows the options that are live for your page. PayPal is coming soon, and Venmo is not offered.

What does a tip cost?

The account is free and there is no monthly plan. DonoLink charges 3.5% per successful tip, and Stripe charges its own fee to your connected account: 2.9% + 30¢ per card payment, plus 1.5% for international cards. Apple Pay and Google Pay cost the same as a card.

How much do I keep from a $10 tip?

With a card, Stripe takes $0.59 and DonoLink $0.35, so $9.06 reaches you. From a $25 tip you keep $23.09. The viewer can choose to cover the DonoLink fee.

When is a tip confirmed?

A tip counts once Stripe confirms the payment, which for cards and wallets usually takes a few seconds.

Does a viewer need a DonoLink account?

No. Viewers tip from your public page without an account. You need a DonoLink account and a completed Stripe connection to receive tips.

Where does the money go?

Tips are created directly on your own connected Stripe account, not held by DonoLink. Stripe pays out to your US bank account in dollars on your payout schedule, and your dashboard shows each tip with its fees and net amount.

Can a tip be disputed?

A card payment can be disputed by the cardholder with their bank; Stripe notifies you and you can respond with evidence. Stripe may charge a dispute fee under its terms, so keep the message and context of large tips.

Are tips tax-deductible for my viewers?

No. A tip is a voluntary payment to you as a creator, not a donation to a charity, so it is not tax-deductible for your viewers.

Do I pay taxes on my tips?

Usually, yes: tips count as income for the IRS. Stripe sends you Form 1099-K when your payments pass $20,000 and 200 transactions in a year, but income below that is still taxable. This is general information, not tax advice.

Can a large channel get a different rate?

Yes. For consistently high tip volume, DonoLink can agree on an individual rate. Contact us with your expected volume; a custom rate only applies after written confirmation.

Who runs DonoLink?

DonoLink is a trade name of Tovix, a Dutch sole proprietorship based in Eindhoven, registered with the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce (KVK 98227475, VAT NL005316890B06). Stripe processes payments on each creator's connected account. Contact: support@donolink.nl.

Is it safe to tip with DonoLink?

Stripe processes every payment, and the money goes to the creator's own connected Stripe account. DonoLink never sees or stores full card numbers or bank login details. Always check that the creator shared the link themselves.

Can I use DonoLink if I am under 18?

Creators must be 18 or older. Viewers must be 18 or older, or have permission from a parent or guardian.
