How to make free TikTok clips from your stream
You can make free TikTok clips from your stream in two ways: by hand, with your Twitch clips and a free editor, or automatically with a free clipper such as DonoLink Clipper. In this guide you read what makes a clip good, how to edit it and how to end up with a few strong clips from every stream without costs, a subscription or a watermark.
The Clipper is in its final testing phase and is coming soon for every Twitch streamer on DonoLink. Create your free DonoLink now and it will be in your dashboard as soon as it goes live.
Why clips are the fastest way to grow
On Twitch, new viewers have a hard time finding you: most people watch channels they already know. TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts also show your videos to people who don't follow you yet. One good clip can bring in viewers you would never have reached through Twitch.
On top of that, clips make your stream work for longer. A moment from Tuesday night can keep sending new people to your channel all weekend.
What makes a clip good?
The best clips have one clear moment that you understand without explanation. Think of:
- A genuine reaction: a fright, disbelief or a fit of laughter.
- A fail or a clutch that makes sense even if you don't know the game.
- A moment with your chat, such as a raid or a big tip.
- A line you can quote on its own.
How to make a clip by hand, for free
By hand it costs nothing but time. Here's how:
- Create a Twitch clip during the stream, or let your mods do it.
- Download the clip from your Twitch Creator Dashboard.
- Open it in a free video editor and create a vertical project of 1080 by 1920 pixels.
- Put your facecam on top and the game below, and cut the run-up and silences.
- Add captions and check the sound.
- Export and upload to TikTok, Reels and Shorts.
What it costs you in time
Count on ten to fifteen minutes per clip if you want to do it well, and you first have to find the moments again in your VOD. If you stream three times a week and want three clips from every stream, that soon adds up to a few hours a week. That's why many streamers give up after a few weeks.
Free apps that do it automatically often have a catch: a watermark, a limit on the minutes of video per month or the best features behind a subscription.
Automatic and free: DonoLink Clipper
DonoLink Clipper was built to take over that work without costing anything. While you stream on Twitch it listens to chat, laughter, screams, loudness, tips, raids and viewer clips, and picks at most 5 moments per stream, always at least one.
For every moment it creates an official Twitch clip and a vertical version with your facecam on top, your game below and captions in your style. You get three versions: short, with build-up and tight without silences. No subscription, no credits and no watermark.

Finishing your clip in the editor
Want to adjust something yourself? Do it in the editor in your browser. There's a timeline with a razor to cut parts out, you can move the start and end, fix captions line by line and give words emphasis. Everything can be undone.
Exporting happens in your own browser, as an mp4. The sound is then at the level TikTok, Reels and Shorts expect, so a scream doesn't distort and your voice doesn't disappear.
Posting and getting something out of it
On your phone you share the clip with one tap through the share menu to TikTok, Instagram or YouTube; on your computer you download it and open the upload page. The caption and hashtags are ready.
Don't forget your bio. New viewers who like your clip want to know where they can watch you live and how they can support you. Put a link to your Twitch channel and to your donation page there.

Frequently asked questions
Can I make free TikTok clips without a watermark?
Yes. By hand in a free editor without a watermark, or automatically with DonoLink Clipper. It's free and never puts a watermark on your clip.
How many clips should I make per stream?
A few good ones beat lots of mediocre ones. DonoLink Clipper makes at most 5 per stream and always at least one. Spread them over the week and you have something new more often.
Does this work for small streamers too?
Yes. On small channels the chat is quiet, so the Clipper mostly listens to the sound: laughter, screams and loud moments. On a quiet night you get the best moment of that stream, and we tell you so honestly.
Do I need to install anything?
No. The Clipper works through your Twitch connection in DonoLink. Nothing goes into OBS and you don't have to download a program.
